3-5:30pm

https://bridgetownsextet.com/tnof/

The Bridgetown Sextet, Portland’s premier 1920s and 30s jazz and swing band, presents a new monthly event, The New Old Fashioned, a monthly “jazz age party” on the second Sunday afternoon of the month at the cozy and classy Tango Berretin in SE Portland.

The event will feature live vintage jazz with the Sextet, space for dancing and for listening, DJ-d 78rpm records, local beer and wine, and an opportunity to celebrate the good-time music and spirit of the 1920s. The New Old Fashionedwill also bring more live music and a new community-friendly weekend event to the Foster Rd. area which has developed into a vibrant neighborhood commercial area over the past decade. The event will kick off at 3pm, with live music from the Bridgetown Sextet from about 3:30-5:30. In future months, there are also plans for guest musicians, social dancing lessons, and more.

The New Old Fashioned will be a fun and relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon – ideal for jazz fans, swing and social dancers, vintage enthusiasts, and anyone interested in a celebration of the energetic, catchy, and timeless style of 1920s and 30s jazz.

WHAT IS TUESDAY BLUES?

Tuesday Blues is an all-ages, weekly social partner dance event in Portland established in 2003, and is open to people of all dance backgrounds and experience. It offers both beginner and intermediate lessons before each of our weekly dances. We strive to have an inclusive environment at all our dances, where we can grow dancers into community members. Every Tuesday night we bring you the best Blues dancing, DJs, and live music Portland has to offer.

There's no partner required, no experience required—just a love for the blues and a desire to move!

Tuesday Blues is a POC & LGBTQIA safe(r) event. This means bigotry of any kind is not tolerated. If you experience or see anything questionable, please let someone on the PB&J team know. Thanks for helping keep Blues a safe and welcoming space for all!

Due to the intimate nature of our dances, Covid policies are enforced at every dance. Although there is inherent risk to attending any event in person, an abundance of caution is taken to ensure the safety of the participants and our community. An outbreak will not only risk the safety of dancers and their families, but the ability to hold ongoing events.

FOR ALL MASKED DANCES:

• Regardless of state, city, or other regulations, you will be required to wear mask (N95 or KN95) while in the venue (provided)

FOR ALL DANCES:

• Temperature checks will be done at the door

• Please do not attend if you are exhibiting symptoms. If you are exhibiting ANY of the following, please stay home: runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing, sore throat, etc.

• Wrist bands provided to indicate comfort levels

• Contact tracing - we will be collecting contact info for this, you won’t be added to any marketing or list used for any other purpose

• Hand sanitizer on tap

WHAT IS BAREFOOT FUSION?

Barefoot is a POC & LGBTQIA safe(r) event. This means bigotry of any kind is not tolerated. If you experience or see anything questionable, please let someone on the PB&J team know. Thanks for helping keep our dance a safe and welcoming space for all!

Barefoot is a structured, weekly fusion dance event that remains a creative dance community at its heart. All dance levels are welcome and no prior dance experience is required.

At Barefoot every Friday you'll see everything from Traditional Blues dancing to "Fusion dancing", which is the combination of two or more dance styles danced to non-traditional music. For example, Blues can be mixed with Tango and danced to world-fusion electronica. You may also see people dancing "Micro Blues," which is done in close embrace with slight body movements and isolations. Even though Barefoot is a structured, weekly event, it still remains a creative dance community at its heart. All dance levels are welcome and no prior dance experience is required.
